Follow this easy recipe to create a crowd-pleasing treat that elevates your culinary skills in no time!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 lb quality sausage meat (pork or chicken)
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • Vegetable oil for frying (enough for deep-frying)

Instructions

  1. 1. Boil the eggs: Place the eggs in cold water, bring to a boil over medium heat, and cook for 6 minutes for soft-boiled eggs. Transfer to an ice bath to cool.
  2. 2. Prepare the sausage: Mix the sausage meat with salt and pepper in a bowl; feel free to add herbs for extra flavor.
  3. 3. Wrap the eggs: Peel and dry the cooled eggs. Take a portion of sausage meat (about 1/4 cup) and flatten it in your palm before wrapping it around each egg completely.
  4. 4. Coat the eggs: Set up three bowls with flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs. Roll each wrapped egg in flour, dip in beaten egg, then coat with breadcrumbs.
  5. 5. Fry: Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C). Fry each Scotch egg in batches until golden brown (about 5 minutes).
  6. 6. Serve: Drain on paper towels and slice open to serve warm with mustard or your favorite dipping sauce.
