Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a baking dish with butter.
- Thinly slice the potatoes using a mandoline or knife.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter, add minced garlic, and sauté until fragrant. Pour in heavy cream, season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg; heat through without boiling.
- Layer the sliced potatoes in the greased baking dish, pouring some creamy mixture over each layer and sprinkling cheese on top. Repeat until all ingredients are used, finishing with cheese.
- Cover with foil (shiny side down) and bake for about 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 15-20 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
