Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt (for dough)
  • 1/4 cup water (or as needed)
  • 2 medium potatoes (about 300g), boiled and mashed
  • 1 cup green peas (fresh or frozen, cooked)
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying (approximately 2 cups)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix all-purpose flour and salt. Gradually add water until it forms a soft dough. Knead for about 5 minutes, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rest.
  2. Boil potatoes until tender. Drain and mash until smooth.
  3. In a skillet, heat oil, sauté cumin seeds until fragrant. Add mashed potatoes, peas, coriander powder, garam masala, and salt; mix well and simmer for 5 minutes. Let cool.
  4. Divide dough into small balls; roll each into thin circles and cut in half. Form cones with each half-circle, fill with potato-pea mixture, and seal edges with water.
  5. Heat oil in a deep pan over medium-high heat. Fry samosas until golden brown (4-5 minutes). Drain on paper towels.
  6. Serve hot with mint chutney or tamarind sauce.
